As a part of Cobham Plc we are looking for a PR-External Corporate Communications Specialist. This role is to support the Cobham external communications strategies, plans and processes and ensure they are adhered to inside the organisation. To create communications which raise the profile of the organisation, its strategy, objectives and achievements, in ways that project a consistent brand message.

Drive superior media engagement and intimacy by cultivating and maintaining relationships with key media, strategically positioning key spokespeople and stories, customer wins and brand messaging.  Exploit all aspects of the social media marketing roadmap, to attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and network users.

As PR -Corporate Communications Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Proven working experience in public relations, social media or related field
  • Knowledge of or experience in the aerospace industry or technology industry
  • Excellent command of spoken and written language: the ability to put things clearly and simply so that others can understand
  • Ability to write in a variety of styles to appeal to different audiences
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the media, clients, senior management and other employees of the company
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in confidence and with discretion
  • Knowledge of contracting and monitoring of out‐sourced contractual services
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Adequate knowledge of SEO
  • Events management
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholder organisations

Qualifications

  • Five years of work experience in communications, marketing, journalism or public relations, preferably with a PR agency or in-house media relations Team

BS in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations/Journalism

As PR -Corporate Communications Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Maintain a consistent, regular ‘drum beat’ of external communications activity, working with regional PR contacts and their appointed agencies. Read, review and approve press releases for the region, creating communication that is meaningful and relevant to the audience and supports the Company’s key messages
  • Build and maintain a network of identified media contacts to push out information and proper insight about the company
  • Generate, edit, publish and share content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Provide support to the IR team around financial reporting, Capital Markets Days and other investor relations activities
  • Build and execute a social and digital media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
  • Manage and maintain the content of the press/media section on company web site.
  • Support the execution of external communication strategies and plans for specific activities and projects including planning, preparation and support for IR activities during key events, air shows and exhibitions
  • Develop a knowledge of the products and businesses in the region and of the issues which may arise
  • To continually evaluate the success of our external communications and communications vehicles, providing data to support decisions on the optimum vehicles and channels by communication type
  • Respond to requests for information from the media or designate an appropriate spokesperson or information source
