The project engineer (PE) will support the Lead Project Engineer in the coordination of the design, development, manufacturing, testing, certification, and delivery Crew Systems and/or Passive Thermal Control products. Typical equipment items are, in space stowage, crew seats, galley equipment, translation and mobility aid and other accommodations for Crew activities, Multilayer thermal insulation blankets, acoustic blankets, micrometeoroid protection. The candidate will work closely with other Lockheed Martin departments such as systems engineering, analysis, test and verification during the hardware development and certification. The candidate will also support verification of the products and integration of the hardware item into the Orion spacecraft.. This position is defined as Strategic Review – Retained to Space Systems Company.
Basic Qualifications
•Must be a U.S. citizen •Bachelor or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field •Excellent Oral/Written Communication skills; •Experience in organizing and leading small teams •Experience in mechanical design •Documented planning and project management skills •Experience in making technical presentations •Experience working a multidiscipline team environment; •Willing and able to travel (typical 1-2 week trip, 3-4 times per year) •Excellent organizational skills – Ability to review and organize large amounts of engineering data •Demonstrated ability to independently research design or other engineering solutions
