The Wind and Site engineer is part of our Technology & Service Solutions business unit in the Wind & Site Engineering department and will cover all Vestas Sales Value Chain divisions across all active countries in EMEA South region, with special focus on the French market.
This position is responsible for developing project/customer specific technical and commercial solutions in support of Wind Power Systems business development within Vestas-Mediterranean in the EMEA South region. This includes providing direct support on the determination, development, and presentation of technical solutions to Vestas customers up to, during and following the completion of sales agreements.
Perform wind and site statistical modelling and analyses, including determination of wind resource and site characteristics;
Develop wind turbine site layouts and optimize turbine configurations based on conformance with customer needs and business drivers, and in compliance with standards, power production, and construction considerations in order to drive down LCOE;
Verify wind turbine design life thru load calculations, and propose operational configurations that optimize the business case for Vestas and the end user;
Maintain sales and project processes involving technical and commercial responses to customers, consultants and colleagues, primarily Business Development Managers;
Maintain up to date knowledge on technical developments of wind turbine design, installation, operation and maintenance;
Interface with the Corporate R&D department; in coordination with the Local Wind and Site Manager and the Wind and Site Functional Lead.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering (or similar degrees with proven business experience in wind industry);
Minimum of 3 years of experience in wind and site engineering with background in sales support;
Experience with industry specific software applications such as WAsP, WIndPRO, and Flex5 highly desired;
Familiar with IEC standards for wind turbine design. Understanding of the physical principles behind Windturbine operation and loading, and its relation with different climatic conditions;
Fluency in English and French is mandatory, and other local languages (Spanish, Italian, Turkish,… ) are highly valuable;
Experience using CFD or Mesoscale modelling for wind power applications;
Experience with IEC 61400-12-1 standard and completion of power performance testing highly valuable;
Experience with operational performance assessments of wind power plants;
Experience completing financial analysis of proposed wind power and ancillary systems;
Experience supporting commercial negotiations.
