This job provides structural analysis related to design, strength, fatigue, damage tolerance of metallic or composite aircraft structures and repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Works independently and applies technical capabilities to provide outside the box solutions Develops new principles, processes, methods, or concepts. Participates in resolving complex problems that require a high level of ingenuity and innovation.
•Ensures application of best practices and identifies the need for enhanced processes, methods, and tools.
•Reviews work in progress to ensure that specifications, design, criteria and performance schedules are maintained.
•Develops, documents, and maintains processes, methods, and tools.
•Manages customer and supplier relationships. Contacts customers, teaming partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to exchange technical data and to discuss project performance.
•Organizes technical aspects of proposal development from bid decision to submittal of proposal to customer. Provides functional and technical guidance to all aspects of engineering project management.
•Plans, schedules, and leads others to produce technical work responsive to customer needs within allocated budgets.
•Uses engineering and industry experience to demonstrate compliance with FAA rules and regulations
•Develops project plans that define scope, schedule, budget and business impact and risks. Executes plans and identifies issues or obstacles, gains alignment and brings to resolution.
•Checks and approves work of junior structures engineers. Specifically composite design and analysis.
•Provides coaching and direction for development of junior engineers – specifically composite design and analysis.
•Responsible for Engineering support of aircraft recovery and heavy structural repair projects.
•Familiar with Certification regulations for FAA and EASA – DER/CVE or equivalent
Education and/or Experience Required:
•Bachelor of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field
•5+ years of experience in composite repair and analysis
•5+ years of experience of transport or aircraft structural analysis or in related field
•Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
•Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
